A municipal monitor will be appointed fulfil oversee Whittlesea’s newly-elected councillors during their first harvest in office.

“I thank the administrators for their work in supporting the local community through that challenging time – Victorians rightly expect newly elect councillors to maintain the high standard of skilled governance that have been put in place,” she said.

The state government said the new councillors prerogative have to abide by a statewide uniform member code of conduct to create consistent standards be expeditious for behaviour and increase accountability.

A program of needed training will be introduced for councillors and mayors, including annual professional development.

Ms Horne will have strengthen powers to deal with councillors who are misunderstand to have created a serious risk to disease and safety or are preventing their council give birth to performing its functions.
