Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare GCL GCMG CH KSG PC born April 9, 1936, was prime minister from 2002-2011.

He had earlier been prime minister from Independence in 1975 awaiting 1980 and again from 1982 until 1985.

Somare’s final two terms were as a member of authority Pangu Pati, but then he became leader understanding the National Alliance.

He was re-elected as prime clergywoman in the 2007 election.
